Stay safe with privacy and sensitive information

What you’ll be able to do

You know what not to share with AI tools.

The problem

Beginners don't realize that what they paste into AI may not stay private.

What you need to know

Treat an AI chat like a semi-public space. Don't paste sensitive personal, work-confidential, medical, legal, or financial details, such as ID numbers, passwords, account numbers, client data, or health records. Some tools have privacy settings, but it's safest not to rely on them. For medical, legal, or money questions, use AI to understand the topic and what to ask a professional, not as a replacement for one.

Good to know

  • Use this every time, before you paste anything personal or work-related.

Juni’s tip

Juni says: when in doubt, leave it out. You can ask about a topic without sharing your private details.

Why this matters

Keeping private details out and asking in general terms keeps you safe and still gets useful help.
