Write your first useful prompt

Works with ChatGPT · Claude · Copilot · Gemini

What you’ll be able to do

You understand what a prompt is and can send a useful first request.

The problem

Beginners type a few vague words, get a vague answer, and assume AI isn't useful.

What you need to know

A prompt is just your request, written in plain language. The clearer you are about what you want, the better the reply. And it's a conversation: if the answer isn't quite right, you can reply and ask for changes.

Good to know

  • Use this whenever you ask AI for anything.
Juni, the One AI Skill guide

Juni’s tip

Juni says: a prompt is just asking clearly. Say what you want — and it's fine to ask again.

Why this matters

Saying what you want, for whom, and how long is usually enough to get a helpful reply.

Your action checklist

Do this

Send a first prompt, then send one follow-up asking it to make the reply shorter, simpler, or friendlier.

Self-check

  • My prompt says what I want and one key detail
  • I tried at least one follow-up to improve the answer

Watch out for

  • Giving only one or two vague words
  • Accepting the first answer without refining it
