The problem
Beginners type a few vague words, get a vague answer, and assume AI isn't useful.
What you need to know
A prompt is just your request, written in plain language. The clearer you are about what you want, the better the reply. And it's a conversation: if the answer isn't quite right, you can reply and ask for changes.
